Job Description
Field Service Technician troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning Wabtec rail equipment at customer sites. Training operators and supporting global freight and transit transportation systems.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot machines and perform service, maintenance, and repairs to restore equipment to proper operation
- Put new machines into service, including testing and demonstrating equipment at customer sites
- Repair existing equipment at customer sites
- Perform machine start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and customer training
- Recommend repair parts and product improvements to customers
- Advise and train customers on proper maintenance and operation of Nordco equipment
- Prepare weekly travel expense records and field reports
- Work with engineering and/or production to solve problems with new machines
- Contribute to continuous improvement of equipment and processes
- Travel 80+% to Canadian and foreign customers’ locations
- Work independently and build effective rapport with customers
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial or mobile heavy equipment mechanic
- Extensive knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to interpret written, oral, or diagram-form instructions
- Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and professional journals
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, suppliers, and the public
- Valid driver's license
- Valid passport
- French speaking preferred
- PLC and/or CanBus systems troubleshooting training strongly preferred
- Previous railroad experience a plus
- Ability to travel 70–80% to foreign and domestic locations
