Job Description
Field Service Technician repairing and maintaining earthmoving equipment for a multi-state excavation contractor. Diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues while traveling continuously to project sites.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a large fleet of earthmoving equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic defects on excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and other equipment
- Follow all safety rules and regulations when performing work assignments
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet equipment
- Make mechanical repairs after inspection and breakdown analysis
- Record complete repair descriptions on work orders, including equipment model, serial number, and hour-meter reading
- Lubricate moving parts and operate repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications
- Maintain the cleanliness and professional presentation of the service truck and personal image
- Maintain an acceptable driving record and follow CDL-related rules and regulations
- Travel continuously to project sites and remain at assignments for extended periods
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Technical School Certificate and 2 years of related work experience, or 5 years of related work experience
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Demonstrated history of safe, reliable work habits
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy earthmoving equipment
- Working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel extensively, including overnight
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, standing, kneeling, sitting, grasping, twisting, and climbing stairs/ladders for long periods
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check and drug test
