Job Description
Field Service Technician troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning Sandvik surface mining equipment in Quebec. Traveling to customer mine sites and training operators.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems to restore original manufacturer specifications.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
- Commission new equipment.
- Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
- Stay current with industry, customer, product developments, and technical best practices.
- Comply with safety policies and applicable government, customer, or industry regulations.
- Identify and report unsafe work habits, workplace incidents, and near misses; perform Take Five risk assessments before each task.
- Maintain hand tools and equipment for safe operation.
- Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
- Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Provide training at customer sites.
Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in a relevant mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent experience as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic.
- Five (5) years of related experience with surface mining equipment.
- Ability to work in both French and English.
- Previous experience with Sandvik equipment or products is an asset.
- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Willingness to travel to mine sites and across Canada as required.
- Ability and willingness to work varied shifts as required.
