Job Description
General Manager providing strategic leadership for British Basketball teams focusing on Olympic qualification. Overseeing program development, stakeholder management, and budget responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- To provide overall strategic leadership to the British Basketball senior and age grade teams with particular focus on 3x3 LA qualification
- Develop and deliver the 3x3 programme with the aim of achieving LA qualification
- Provide overall strategic leadership of British senior and age grade teams
- Contribute to the development of a commercial model which enables GB teams to be competitive
- Oversee the strategic alignment of all British teams, ensuring that the highest standards of safeguarding and best practice are maintained throughout
- Lead the development and delivery of the UK Sport and Sport England investment processes, including subsequent reporting and management
- Lead the overall Olympic Games Project, including overseeing the development and delivery of robust and clear qualification and selection processes
- Liaise with the BOA on all matters pertaining to the Games
- Lead, mentor and manage direct line reports with responsibility for a team of approximately 8 employed coaches
- Provide robust financial management of the GB teams’ budgets
- Contribute to and support the development of arrangements for a new GB Body, working with key stakeholders as required
Requirements:
- Demonstrates a strong understanding, knowledge and experience of basketball
- Leadership in high-performance sport at national and/or international level
- Leadership of complex programmes in multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience across Olympic, Paralympic or international pathways, including qualification and selection
- Experience of budget management and strategic delivery
- Experience of working with funders, governing bodies and key stakeholders
- Exceptional candidates with an elite background in sport and a record of strong leadership and organisational skills will be considered
- Strong knowledge of the UK high-performance sport system
- Understanding of high-performance team sport environments
- Strong understanding of governance, equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding and athlete welfare
- Knowledge of publicly funded sport and associated investment and reporting requirements
