Job Description
Generator Technician maintaining and repairing commercial generators on telecom towers. Supporting Pearce’s North American electromechanical infrastructure services through regional field work.
Responsibilities:
- Service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers in the assigned region
- Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, and install or replace components or entire systems
- Perform maintenance and upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance to ensure generator readiness
- Read and follow blueprints and design specifications for installations and repairs
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components
- Test installed components for proper operation
- Respond promptly to power/generator alarms
- Perform work safely around hazards including falls, electric shock, falling objects, and traffic
- Participate in required safety and training meetings
- Duties may evolve based on business and client needs
Requirements:
- Minimum one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Two or more years of generator maintenance experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of generator installation, maintenance, and repair
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment and alarms visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances and work day, evening, or night hours
- Availability for overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be away from home for extended periods
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to respond promptly to power/generator alarms and assigned phone and email
- Must use safety equipment and follow safety practices
- Must attend designated safety and training meetings
