Job Description
Generator Technician servicing and repairing commercial generators on telecom towers. Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining critical power equipment across Pearce’s regional infrastructure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers in the assigned region
- Maintain generators and diagnose and repair problems
- Install and replace components or entire systems
- Perform maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular generator maintenance
- Read and follow blueprints and other design specifications for installation and repair
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, controls, and other components
- Test equipment for proper operation
- Respond promptly to power/generator alarms
- Answer assigned phone and email promptly
- Perform work safely around hazards associated with power supply equipment, switching gear, and related equipment
- Use safety equipment and safety practices
- Attend and participate in designated safety and training meetings
- Specific duties may vary based on business and client needs
Requirements:
- Two or more years of generator maintenance experience preferred
- Minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Thorough knowledge of generator installation, maintenance, and repair
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Ability to comply with OSHA Standards
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances and work day, evening, or night hours
- Willingness to work overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be away from home for extended periods
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
- Willingness to travel
