Job Description
Institutional sales leader growing Manulife’s Western U.S. asset-management business across public and private-market strategies. Building pension, endowment, foundation, and other institutional investor relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Drive business development to grow the institutional business across the Western region of the USA
- Cover all asset classes, with primary responsibility for public equity and fixed income institutional distribution
- Cover alternative credit, private equity, private credit, and private real asset platforms in collaboration with specialist sales teams
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans with milestones, objectives, targets, and market-penetration goals
- Establish and expand relationships with institutional clients
- Coordinate with private market sales teams to develop leads and assist in closing new business
- Partner with RFP, Client Service, and Consultant Relations teams on RFI, RFP, DDQ, and ad hoc responses
- Collaborate with institutional marketing on campaigns and outreach to increase brand awareness and generate business opportunities
- Report activities, sales pipeline, large client focuses, and product initiatives to Sales Leadership
- Travel extensively within the assigned territory
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience within an asset management firm working with institutional investors
- Solid understanding of the investment industry and institutional market
- Extensive knowledge of fixed income, equities, alternative credit, private equity, private credit, and private real asset strategies
- Ability to articulate complex investment processes clearly, knowledgeably, and credibly
- Proven individual track record of raising assets
- Wide network of institutional investor relationships across corporate and public pension plans, endowments, foundations, health care organizations, multi family offices, and other institutional capital pools
- Ability to build trusted relationships and act as an investment thought partner with senior investment professionals
- Organizational intelligence and ability to navigate a large global organization
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Drive to build and develop a business in a complex, performance-oriented environment
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business or economics, preferably with a concentration in finance
- FINRA Series 7/63 will be required
- MBA and/or CFA preferred
- Extensive travel within the assigned territory
