Job Description

Payroll Specialist processing accurate multi-state payroll for Addus HomeCare. Managing ADP calculations, audits, compliance, employee pay questions, and payroll issue resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform payroll functions for the company
  • Collect and import all hours and earnings files from various systems and sources for weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Process gross-to-net calculations in the payroll software
  • Audit hours, gross and net payroll expenses against previous pay periods; investigate and explain variances
  • Adhere to internal financial controls for accurate payroll expenses and SOX compliance
  • Apply earnings and deduction codes and appropriate pay rates accurately for employee pay and tax reporting
  • Research employee pay questions, correct issues, and communicate payroll expense errors to leadership
  • Communicate with departments and field branches on payroll issues and questions, ensuring timely resolution
  • Review weekly reports to verify pay rates for new employees and process termination final payments according to state laws
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll information
  • Follow federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and guidelines
  • Adhere to HIPAA laws and PHI rules and guidelines

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience with payroll-related activities in a multi-state payroll environment
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • ADP experience required
  • ADP Vantage Experience preferred
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Capable of learning new technology applications
  • Must live in either Illinois or Texas
  • Must follow all federal, state and local wage and hour laws and guidelines
  • Adherence to HIPAA laws and PHI rules and guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information
