Job Description

Leave claims specialist managing appeals, escalations, and absence cases for Alight, a benefits administration provider. Preparing claim documentation, coordinating stakeholders, and delivering client reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage leave claims, appeals, escalations, and project tasks
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Resolve employee issues and escalations with client managers and end clients
  • Prepare comprehensive appeal packets summarizing case history and documentation
  • Maintain leave information for assigned accounts while managing customer relationships and expectations
  • Provide total claim management, including pay and leave instructions
  • Obtain and review updated medical evidence supporting leave
  • Review eligibility guidelines
  • Track stand-alone leaves and leaves running concurrently with FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and Short-Term Disability
  • Resolve problems within scope of authority and escalate other issues to the manager
  • Support the Intake/Customer Service team in the Call Center as needed
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly activity reports, including case-management information, for management review before client delivery
  • Focus on continuous improvement and excellent client service

Requirements:

  • Equivalent experience accepted as an alternative to a bachelor’s degree in business
  • Bachelor’s degree in business
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • MS Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to navigate Alight’s proprietary systems and web-based tools
  • Knowledge of and experience in leave-of-absence processing and customer service functions
  • Advanced customer service principles
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette
  • Ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, legal professionals, and subject matter experts
  • Ability to continually prioritize work and efficiently produce significant volumes of work within performance standards
  • Work authorization in the Employing Country without current or future visa sponsorship
  • Successful completion of a background check, as applicable to the position
  • Ability to participate in video-based virtual interviews with camera on
