Job Description
Senior Credit Analyst underwriting commercial loans, analyzing borrower finances and collateral for Seattle Credit Union. Managing loan reviews, covenants, portfolio reporting, and credit-policy improvements remotely across US time zones.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite prospective commercial loans
- Complete construction draw requests
- Support completion of the Annual Term Loan Review process
- Prepare credit memorandums with supporting documentation for business-loan approval
- Review borrower and guarantor documentation for alignment with loan approval and Loan Policy
- Analyze financial documents using trend analysis, ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, industry averages, and macro/industry trends
- Analyze pledged collateral for compliance with internal loan policy and industry best practices
- Provide written overviews of findings from prospective borrower and guarantor financial-document analysis
- Work closely with the Senior Credit Officer on the participated loan portfolio
- Collaborate with the Senior Credit Officer to refine loan policy and procedures
- Develop or refine reports and tracking mechanisms for monitoring the commercial loan portfolio
- Track Annual Term Loan Review completion and monitor loan covenants
- Work with Loan Officers to obtain required financial reporting from existing borrowers
- Mentor and support the Junior Credit Analyst
- Collaborate with team members to meet short-term goals and long-term objectives
- Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Support team initiatives, projects, and process improvements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of five (5)+ years of experience in commercial banking
- Minimum of five (5)+ years direct credit analysis and commercial underwriting experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience reading 3rd-party commercial appraisal reports, Environmental Phase I reports, Title Insurance Commitments and Policies, and insurance documentation
- Current knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning Member Business Lending
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills

- Ability to advance efficiencies and engage opportunities that advance automation
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Completion of a formal commercial credit analysis training program from ABA, Moody’s or RMA preferred, including the Credit Risk Certification designation or similar
- Experience with nCino Loan Origination System preferred
- Community bank or credit union background and experience preferred
- Routine access to a quiet space from which to work
