Job Description
Senior Payroll Analyst providing advanced payroll expertise and oversight for all employees at Ferguson. Collaborating with HR and Finance to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll processes.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter authority for payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Oversee and process complex payroll transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Conduct detailed audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and third-party vendors to resolve escalated payroll issues.
- Support tax filings, year-end processing, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update payroll process documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Analyze payroll data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Test and implement system enhancements, upgrades, or new payroll functionality in collaboration with HRIS or IT.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to payroll team members.
- Respond to complex employee and management inquiries regarding payroll policies and practices.
- Stay current on payroll guidelines, tax laws, and regulatory updates to support compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state or multi-country payrolls
- Prevailing wage experience strongly desired
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or progress toward certification preferred
- Deep understanding of multi-state payroll processing, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax regulations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities; able to handle multiple deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP) and advanced Excel skills
- Ability to handle sensitive payroll data with confidentiality and integrity
- High level of professionalism
- Prior experience leading or mentoring payroll team members is a plus
- Experience working with large employee populations and third-party payroll providers preferred.
