Job Description
Senior Payroll Specialist managing Australia, New Zealand, and Philippines payroll for Lightspeed’s global commerce platform. Ensuring compliant processing, reconciliations, reporting, and payroll improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll across Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Maintain employee payroll records and manage payroll changes
- Perform payroll validations, reconciliations, reporting, and controls
- Investigate discrepancies and partner with Finance on payroll accounting and month-end outcomes
- Provide support to employees and stakeholders on payroll-related queries
- Maintain payroll data and processes across payroll, HRIS, and finance systems
- Support audits, compliance, and statutory reporting requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, automation, and reporting
- Contribute to system enhancements, payroll projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, and external providers across the APAC region
Requirements:
- Prior payroll or payroll accounting experience, including hands-on payroll processing responsibilities
- Proven experience processing New Zealand payroll; Australian payroll experience highly regarded
- Exposure to multi-country payroll operations across APAC is an advantage
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax requirements, leave entitlements, and employment regulations
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, ideally including iPayroll, Xero, and/or Workday
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, reconciliations, reporting, and problem-solving using complex spreadsheets
- Experience preparing payroll journals, reconciliations, variance analysis, and payroll reporting in partnership with Finance teams
- Ability to leverage Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and Glean while maintaining strict data privacy and security standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Commitment to accurate, confidential, and high-quality payroll services
- Reliable and stable internet connection with a consistent 50 Mbps plan
- Suitable remote working environment
