Job Description

Specialty Representative driving GI pharmaceutical sales for AbbVie, an innovative medicines company, in Houston. Managing healthcare accounts, territory strategy, and customer relationships to grow brand performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical topics, and sales expertise
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts to maximize short- and long-term sales performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
  • At least five (5) years of relevant and equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, including three (3) or more years preferred within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry
  • High school diploma/GED required when using the experience alternative
  • Proactively identifies customer style and behavior and adapts selling approach
  • Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills
  • Innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities
  • Ability to develop sales strategies from findings
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Ability to influence others and serve as a credible resource
  • Collaborative partnership skills with district colleagues and matrix teams
  • Documented leadership and support success at district, region, or organizational levels
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • English proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to travel adequately to cover the territory and attend overnight training events and sales meetings
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain them
  • May need to complete background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and specific state or city licenses
