Job Description
Remote tax office manager overseeing IRS-compliant tax preparation operations for Polished Talent Group. Building client portfolios, leading preparers, and growing an independent tax services business.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day remote tax preparation operations
- Prepare and/or review individual federal and state income tax returns
- Support tax preparers with workflow and operational questions
- Monitor return accuracy, documentation, and completion
- Maintain secure and confidential taxpayer information
- Follow applicable IRS due diligence and electronic filing requirements
- Communicate professionally with clients and tax preparers
- Maintain organized client and tax preparation records
- Assist with developing and maintaining client relationships
- Participate in required operational and compliance training
- Ensure applicable filing deadlines and internal procedures are followed
- Build and maintain a personal tax client portfolio
- Develop strategies to attract new clients and increase tax return volume
- Promote the tax business through marketing, networking, and community engagement
- Identify opportunities to expand services and increase revenue
- Create plans for long-term business growth and client retention
- Recruit and build a team of tax preparers
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support throughout tax season
- Manage daily tax business operations and client workflow
- Ensure client documentation is collected and maintained properly
- Monitor submitted returns and funded return activity
- Follow IRS guidelines, due diligence requirements, and professional standards
- Promote accurate and ethical tax preparation practices
- Deliver excellent customer service and build lasting client relationships
- Educate clients throughout the tax preparation process
- Take ownership of business goals, growth, and results
Requirements:
- An active EFIN or the ability to apply for and obtain IRS approval
- A valid PTIN when personally preparing federal tax returns for compensation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Reliable computer and internet access
- Ability to protect confidential taxpayer information
- Strong attention to detail and professionalism
- Tax preparation, tax office, or team leadership experience preferred
- Applicants without an EFIN must obtain applicable IRS approval before performing activities that require an EFIN
