Job Description

Design map-first experiences for geospatial intelligence at Orcrist Technologies, shaping how analysts explore spatial data and make critical decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design map-centric product experiences: layers, timelines, annotations, overlays, and spatial filters that analysts can navigate quickly and confidently.
  • Define user workflows for geospatial analysis, connecting map views with structured and unstructured data exploration.
  • Create wireframes, interaction flows, and high-fidelity prototypes that guide engineering and product decisions.
  • Build and maintain design systems and UI components for analytical and spatial interfaces.
  • Run user research and usability testing with analysts and operators, and feed what you learn back into the product.
  • Work closely with engineers to make sure designs hold up against large datasets and technically complex tools.
  • Design for connected, offline, and air-gapped environments from the start, not as an afterthought.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years designing complex B2B software products, with a portfolio that shows end-to-end work from research and workflows through to polished interfaces.
  • Experience designing data visualization or map-based products: you understand the specific challenges of spatial interaction at a product level.
  • Strong skills in interaction design and information architecture, particularly for analytical and data-dense interfaces.
  • Proficient in Figma and comfortable working with design systems and component libraries.
  • Easy to collaborate with: engineers, analysts, and product managers are your daily partners and you know how to work across those boundaries.
  • Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with map-based or location intelligence products (mobility, GIS, logistics, or geospatial analytics).
  • Familiarity with spatial interaction patterns: layers, zoom-based exploration, map annotations, geospatial filtering.
  • Experience designing for mission-critical or regulated environments where reliability and auditability shape design decisions.
  • Exposure to geospatial or GIS domains such as mapping platforms, satellite data, or location intelligence systems.
  • German language (B1+) and/or experience conducting pilot evaluations with public-sector users.
  • Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments.

Benefits:

  • Remote-first in Germany with hybrid Berlin office, 30 days vacation, equipment & learning budget.
  • High ownership and end-to-end scope: prototypes spanning ingest, processing, ML enrichment, search, and UI.
  • Mission-driven work supporting critical customers across public and private sectors.
