Job Description
Chief of Staff partnering with Rackspace’s CEO to drive strategic priorities, executive alignment, and execution. Managing communications, governance, capital-markets initiatives, and company-wide operating cadence.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CEO to define, track, and drive the company's top strategic priorities
- Identify business gaps, risks, and bottlenecks and drive resolution with functional leaders
- Own the CEO's follow-through system and maintain the CEO's priority dashboard
- Track capital structure and refinancing milestones with the CFO
- Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations for critical CEO touchpoints
- Manage information flow to and from the CEO and triage inbound requests
- Package decisions with context, options, recommendations, and implications
- Draft and refine internal and external communications on behalf of the CEO
- Prepare communications to the controlling stockholder
- Ensure CEO meetings have clear purposes, owners, and preparation
- Produce concise meeting preparation materials
- Capture CEO meeting decisions and actions and ensure follow-through
- Maintain a single source of truth for CEO decks, one-pagers, talking points, and reference materials
- Liaise between the CEO and functional leaders to align priorities and decisions
- Build relationships across the leadership team to accelerate decision-making and execution
- Support organizational design and change management efforts
- Manage the CEO's external commitments, including speaking engagements, panels, customer events, industry councils, and media
- Coordinate customer and partner participation for external engagements
- Track approval routing and disclosure requirements across commercial partnerships
- Build dashboards and reporting mechanisms for company-wide KPIs and strategic initiatives
- Drive planning processes with Finance and functional leaders
- Improve the executive team's operating cadence and governance
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus
- 12+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, investment banking, or a senior Chief of Staff role
- Direct exposure to a public company or sponsor-backed company
- Prior Chief of Staff experience supporting a CEO or business unit president
- Demonstrated ability to build effective systems for follow-through and execution
- Direct exposure to a debt refinancing, credit process, or other capital markets execution effort
- Ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and drive them to completion without direct authority
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience preparing board and executive-level materials
- Ability to rapidly produce high-quality executive communications, including sensitive communications in the CEO's voice
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations
- High degree of discretion and judgment when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-scaling environment
- Working understanding of Reg FD and public company disclosure constraints
- Preferred: experience in a high-growth technology, infrastructure, or SaaS company
- Preferred: background in management consulting, banking, or corporate strategy
- Preferred: familiarity with board governance processes and investor relations
- Preferred: experience operating within a private equity or activist-influenced governance structure
- Preferred: alumni of high-performance leadership development pipelines, such as the White House Fellows program, or comparable rotational programs
