Job Description
Staff Full Stack Engineer serving as Technical Chief of Staff for Capital One Shopping, an autonomous product organization building browser, web, and mobile shopping products. Coordinating enterprise architecture, governance, dependencies, and engineering representation.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an organization-wide view of Shopping's current work, plans, technical dependencies, and business dependencies
- Influence the enterprise in advance by arranging platform support, tools, access, and approvals
- Prepare and present Shopping's progress and goals to Capital One senior leadership
- Secure decisions, investment, and buy-in needed for Shopping's work
- Navigate security, risk, compliance, procurement, and platform governance on Shopping's behalf
- Broker between Shopping and central platform and infrastructure teams
- Drive cross-team dependency orchestration for major cross-cutting initiatives
- Represent Shopping's engineering and explain and defend architecture and technical choices to enterprise platform, security, and risk partners
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing, and data architecture
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Preferred: 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture
- Preferred: 10+ years of professional experience coding in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala
- Preferred: 8+ years of experience with databases and database management systems
- Preferred: 10+ years of professional experience across the full system development lifecycle
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
- Preferred: 10+ years of experience with networking protocols and third-party distributed systems
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards
- Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools
- Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization
