Job Description

Accounting Manager overseeing day-to-day accounting operations at Cognota, a growing SaaS company. Collaborating with leadership to build scalable accounting processes in a remote setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of A/P, A/R, and general ledger accounting
  • Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
  • Process bi-weekly company payroll
  • Own the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate reporting
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit and year-end activities
  • Handle SaaS revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606/SaaS standards
  • Monitor deferred revenue and contract accounting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages
  • Support cash flow forecasting and variance analysis
  • Partner with the COO on budgeting and financial planning
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
  • Maintain proper documentation, internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows
  • Recommend or help implement improvements to Xero, ApprovalMax, Float, or other systems

Requirements:

  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing) preferred
  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS or recurring-revenue environments
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Hands-on experience with Xero, ApprovalMax, Float, QBO, NetSuite, or similar tools
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational capability, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-moving startup environment
