Job Description

Associate Director driving EMEA business development for Lonza’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing services. Building strategic customer partnerships and securing complex biologics and drug-product opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive new business growth across a dedicated territory within the EMEA region
  • Identify, develop, and secure strategic opportunities across Lonza's Integrated Biologics offering
  • Build long-term relationships with key decision-makers
  • Influence complex development and manufacturing strategies and position Lonza as the partner of choice throughout the product lifecycle
  • Develop and execute a territory strategy
  • Identify high-value opportunities and lead customer engagement from initial contact through opportunity creation
  • Communicate Lonza's technical capabilities, innovative technologies, and value proposition
  • Support the generation and conversion of clinical development opportunities
  • Build relationships with prospective customers and identify strategic partnership opportunities
  • Create and execute a territory growth plan from lead qualification through deal closure
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and partnering events
  • Promote technical capabilities, service offerings, and emerging technologies through meetings, presentations, and networking
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiations, support contract development, and ensure mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Collaborate with Technical, Commercial, Finance, Legal, and Proposal Management teams to progress and close opportunities
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to develop value propositions and market-share growth strategies

Requirements:

  • Degree educated in a Life Sciences discipline such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field
  • Extensive commercial and business development experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO industry
  • Proven ability to generate and grow strategic customer partnerships
  • Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle, including pre-clinical, clinical, manufacturing, and commercialisation stages
  • Ability to engage in meaningful scientific and business discussions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence influencing technical experts and senior executives
  • Experience managing sales pipelines and customer engagement activities using CRM platforms, ideally Salesforce.com
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
