Job Description

Business Development Manager expanding sales of Zekelman product lines in the data center market. Building relationships and technical expertise to influence project specifications and procurement pathways.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to increase the use and sale of Zekelman product lines in the data center market.
  • Build, nurture, and expand relationships with data center owners, developers, EPCs, engineering firms, and other key decision makers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for major accounts, ensuring alignment with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Identify upcoming data center construction projects early and position products in project specifications and procurement pathways.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project challenges and deliver technical support, commercial support, and tailored solutions.
  • Track and influence material standards, specifications, and procurement pathways within the data center ecosystem.
  • Lead presentations, meetings, and value-engineering discussions with EPCs and design firms.
  • Manage pipeline forecasting, CRM updates, and sales reporting with clarity and consistency.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Support marketing efforts by providing market insights, customer feedback, and input that strengthens go-to-market execution.
  • Maintain regular, full-time, predictable attendance during scheduled hours as an essential function of this role. Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 8–10+ years of business development or technical sales experience in the data center construction sector.
  • Existing, active relationships with major data center developers (hyperscalers and colocation), EPC firms, and supporting mechanical/electrical/structural contractors.
  • Strong understanding of data center procurement cycles, engineering standards, and commissioning processes.
  • Working knowledge of structural steel, conduit, and mechanical pipe applications.
  • Demonstrated experience selling directly to owners and developers.
  • Deeply networked within the data center construction community with the ability to influence outcomes.
  • Technical fluency in steel solutions (piling, structural, mechanical, and electrical) and the ability to translate value to customer needs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, procurement teams, contractors, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project-tracking and opportunity-qualification skills.
  • Knowledge of competitor offerings and differentiators within the market.
  • Engineering, construction management, or technical degree (preferred).
  • Ability to travel to meet with key customers (30%–50%).
