Job Description
Chief of Staff coordinating enterprise strategy and Board Relations for VSP Vision, a quality vision-care provider. Supporting the Chief Administrative Officer through strategic planning, analysis, stakeholder alignment, and high-priority initiative oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee strategic initiatives across the enterprise
- Enable senior leaders to execute strategic work while ensuring operational needs are met
- Lead special projects and programs and advise on various matters
- Serve as liaison between the CAO and top management and enterprise stakeholders
- Represent the CAO in their absence
- Coordinate strategic priorities and develop tactics, solutions, projects, and programs aligned with organizational goals
- Assist the leadership team with strategic planning, budgeting, and resource needs
- Provide Board Relations support, including board material preparation, pre-board briefings, governance and logistics, and post-meeting action management
- Monitor high-priority initiatives and identify obstacles, risks, and enterprise impacts
- Support recurring meetings, training, off-sites, and leadership communication needs
- Build relationships across the enterprise and act as a thought partner and sounding board
- Attend meetings on behalf of the CAO as required
- Provide decision support through data gathering and analysis
- Prioritize and assess requests and inquiries and determine appropriate action
- Provide additional support to the CAO as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years of functional experience
- Five years of experience at a management level
- Experience championing, influencing, and implementing enterprise-wide projects
- Excellent creative analytical and problem-solving skills for complex problems
- Ability to quickly and effectively change priorities and direction
- Ability to navigate complex organizational situations with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to drive results through informal authority and serve as a consultant to key business partners
- Proven ability to manage program-level risks and issues
- Decision-making ability with balanced consideration of business issues and effective constituent management
- Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills
- Strategic skills supporting envisioning work, program planning, and strategic partnerships
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
- Creativity and latitude in performing job duties
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate best-practice improvements
- Current field knowledge and expert knowledge to initiate and drive innovative ideas and programs
- Willingness to learn, share knowledge, accept responsibility, and handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Approximately 10% domestic and international travel
- For remote or hybrid roles, high engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings
