Job Description
Civil engineering construction manager overseeing FAA Air Traffic Control facility projects for Leidos. Providing field monitoring, quality assurance, coordination, and construction oversight during 100% travel assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Federal Aviation Administration Eastern Service Area by providing construction oversight for National Airspace System Integration Support Contract projects
- Coordinate with Project Engineers, Contracting Officer Representatives, Contracting Officers, construction contractors, stakeholders, and engineering/design teams
- Serve as the primary field point of contact and resolve field issues
- Ensure contractor compliance with FAA Environmental, Safety, and Health policies, applicable regulations, and contract requirements
- Monitor construction progress against approved schedules and communicate status, risks, and deviations
- Review contractor reports, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and work plans
- Support construction inspections, commissioning, closeout, and punch-list resolution
- Maintain daily reports and as-built documentation
- Support project management activities involving safety plans, sequencing, risk, and quality
- Assist with design modifications, constructability reviews, and field-driven adjustments
- Share technical knowledge with team members
- Travel 100%, including weekends, with assignments typically lasting several weeks to months
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, ABET accredited
- 4 years of relevant experience in construction of commercial, industrial, or government facilities
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, plans and specifications, building materials, applicable codes, and quality standards
- Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, and government stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Google Sheets and Google Docs
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar construction document review tools
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- Ability to obtain a U.S. passport
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain and varying environmental conditions in active construction environments
- Ability to access elevated work areas using ladders and walk up to 12 flights of stairs
- Ability to work in mechanical and equipment rooms with elevated noise levels and active construction conditions
- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25 pounds
- Preferred: live in the eastern part of the U.S. and near a large airport
- Preferred: Professional Engineering license or progress toward licensure
- Preferred: AutoCAD or MicroStation experience
- Preferred: Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project experience
- Preferred: FAA or other government project experience
- Preferred: construction supervision or field oversight experience
