Job Description
Director of Finance leading financial analytics, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting for an insurance organization. Governing financial data and delivering insights to executives and the Board.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial operations and reporting
- Research, maintain and implement financial accounting systems, software, and business processes
- Manage financial reporting and state and regulatory compliance filings
- Direct preparation of accurate and timely financial reports in accordance with statutory accounting practices
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop efficient procedures and resource use to enhance departmental workflows
- Manage hiring, training, counseling, termination, and performance appraisals of Accounting personnel
- Advise Accounting staff regarding non-routine reporting transactions
- Support the Vice President – Finance with special projects, workflow process improvements, and operations matters
- Serve as Data Governance lead for financial data
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes
- Develop and maintain key performance metrics
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities
- Develop and deliver reporting for Executive leadership, Board, and other stakeholders
- Develop strategies for analyzing metrics to identify trends, processes, and system opportunities and recommend action
- Work with business units and IT to address financial data and reporting issues and requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting
- MBA, CPA, CFA or other advanced financial credential preferred
- 7 to 10 years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations
- Microsoft Suite experience required
- Advanced Excel and Word skills required, including Power Query
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and business intelligence (BI) dashboard tools, including experience with refactoring existing queries
- Duck Creek Insurance suite system, including Clarity and Snowflake, experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
