Job Description

Financial Modeler building Excel-based PE, credit, and debt models for a U.S.-based AI technology company. Supporting investment and lending decision systems through hands-on model construction and review.

Responsibilities:

  • Build PE, credit, and debt models from scratch in Excel
  • Structure transactions, assumptions, and drivers
  • Link full model flows from operations through cash flow, debt, and returns
  • Review and debug models built by others
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, broken logic, and risks
  • Analyze how operating performance flows through to debt service and returns
  • Clearly explain financial logic and decision-making
  • Complete a take-home Excel modeling exercise designed to reflect real-world modeling work

Requirements:

  • 2–10 years in finance roles with heavy, hands-on modeling
  • Experience at a private equity fund, including direct investing, buy-side diligence, and portfolio company modeling, strongly preferred
  • Built multiple full LBO models from scratch
  • Experience with sources & uses, transaction assumptions, multi-tranche debt schedules, returns analysis, operating models, sensitivities, downside cases, and exit scenarios
  • Experience with add-ons, dividend recaps, or refinancing scenarios is a plus
  • Experience with 3-statement borrower models, cash flow-based underwriting, debt capacity analysis, covenant modeling, and stress scenarios
  • Experience with debt sizing and structuring, amortization, PIK, cash sweeps, refinancing mechanics, recovery analysis, and payment waterfalls
  • Direct experience in private equity, leveraged finance, sponsor coverage, private credit, direct lending, or credit underwriting
  • Proven ability to build models from a blank spreadsheet without templates
  • Experience building models that drove real investment or lending decisions
  • High attention to detail and model accuracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • English required
  • Must complete an approximately 3-hour take-home Excel modeling exercise independently
