Job Description
Account Manager managing employee-benefits accounts for Higginbotham Insurance Agency. Supporting renewals, carrier proposals, compliance, open enrollment, and client service.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain professional relationships with clients through exceptional customer service
- Manage a book of business consisting of fully insured and level funded clients in the Select Business Unit
- Act as the primary contact between clients, prospects, agencies, and producers
- Handle or refer client service requests, complaints, disputes, and grievances
- Support sales agents in producing new business and renewing existing business
- Market accounts beginning 120 days before renewal
- Gather account information and submit it to carriers for proposals
- Investigate carrier products and analyze client data to recommend plans and proposals
- Review proposals for accuracy and collaborate with producers on presentations, spreadsheets, and exhibits
- Calculate premiums and payroll deductions and audit billing statements
- Generate open enrollment materials and conduct enrollment presentations
- Process carrier paperwork and direct transitions between carriers
- Maintain account files in the agency management system
- Manage priorities and workflow for timely, accurate transaction processing
- Maintain knowledge of carrier developments and Federal/State laws affecting benefit programs
- Ensure client accounts are compliant and advise clients on compliance requirements and deadlines
- Maintain relationships with insurance carriers to facilitate business processing
- Maintain agency files and process incoming mail requests
- Complete required training and perform related tasks as needed
Requirements:
- 5 years of employee benefits and account management experience in the insurance field required
- Strong understanding of current employee benefits, regulations, and industry standards
- Experience with Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) preferred
- Experience with fully-insured financial arrangements and alternate-funding methods preferred
- Active Life & Health License required
- Industry-related designations preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Applied Epic experience preferred, or knowledge of a similar Account Management System (AMS) acceptable
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
- Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
- Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, and 10-key
- Ability to walk, bend, sit, reach, and stretch in all directions
