Job Description

Environmental Manager leading assessment and remediation projects for AECOM, a global infrastructure consultancy. Growing Ontario business, managing teams, and delivering industrial and manufacturing client projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead environmental assessment and remediation projects
  • Support project delivery, business development, and people management locally in Ontario and across Canada
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and direct AECOM’s business
  • Provide direction to diverse teams on major projects and support successful delivery to budget and programme
  • Act as the client’s leading advocate within AECOM and AECOM’s leading advocate with the client
  • Develop strategic proposals and budgets for new opportunities
  • Manage technical risks and provide commercial support during project delivery
  • Support technical development of bids and lead major project bids
  • Oversee deliverables and implement quality and health and safety principles
  • Act as lead verifier on major projects and programmes under AECOM’s quality assurance process
  • Provide technical direction and ensure solutions meet client briefs and expectations
  • Lead large and complex projects, including projects with significant commercial risks
  • Mentor junior staff and support their technical development
  • Lead teams of technical experts and environmental professionals
  • Apply safety, quality, and ethics policies and procedures
  • Manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the AECOM Quality Management System

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Postgraduate Degree in a relevant discipline such as Geotechnical, Geology, or Environmental Engineering
  • At least 8 years of experience in the field
  • Experience with contaminated sites in Ontario
  • Deep understanding of applicable Ontario regulations and protocols
  • Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered
  • Registered, or able to register, as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in Ontario
  • Preferred: 15 years of directly relevant experience in environmental and remedial fields
  • Experience servicing industrial and manufacturing clients on project delivery
  • Proposal writing, job scoping, and project planning skills
  • Client management skills
  • Willingness to travel to job sites, sometimes remote, on occasion
  • Ability to work in a team setting and meet timelines and quality management requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Flexibility to work on a range of projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, site personnel, and management
