Job Description
Field Service Technician supporting Columbia PSI’s automated bagging and palletizing equipment. Troubleshooting PLC, electrical, and mechanical systems during customer installations and service trips.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical customer service and support during installation, commissioning, and servicing of automated bagging and palletizing equipment
- Assist customers in person, by phone, or by email
- Respond to service requests and troubleshoot problems on-site and remotely
- Educate and train customers on equipment and safety features
- Supervise local electricians, assemblers, and welding personnel during installation
- Ensure equipment functions properly and safely
- Test local inputs and outputs, devices, control interlocks, and alarms
- Complete service trips safely, efficiently, and within allotted time
- Support sales representatives with technical information, upgrade and parts recommendations
- Complete job and expense reports
- Document project status, on-site changes, safety issues, processes, procedures, and service-manual feedback
- Use SugarCRM to manage customer relationships, solutions, service-trip reports, tasks, and status
- Support internal and external customer-service needs and communicate unmet expectations
- Provide after-hours technical support
- Participate in continuous-improvement and cross-functional teams
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through networks, societies, workshops, and publications
- Contribute to team efforts and perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
- High School or GED required
- 3-5 years of experience
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)
- SugarCRM
- PLC troubleshooting (program editing & network connections)
- Specific knowledge of RSLogix, Compact Logix
- ControlLogix (PLC programming)
- PanelView & Panelmate
- Motion Control
- Strong electrical knowledge and systematic troubleshooting ability
- Strong technical aptitude and attention to detail
- Valid Driver’s License and Driving Record that does not fit the criteria of a high risk driver
- Ability to travel to/from airports and/or customer facilities utilizing your own, leased or rented vehicle
- English language; Spanish a plus
- Willingness to travel frequently, up to 75%
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Participation in applicable SOP and SWI training and knowledge base
