Job Description
HEOR Analyst conducting real world data analyses to support Vertex Pharmaceuticals' product portfolio. Collaborating on statistical programming and observational research in healthcare settings.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct data queries and analyses using in-licensed real world data assets to support the product portfolio and development in therapeutic and disease areas; areas of research may include disease prevalence, disease burden and progression, healthcare resource utilization, and treatment patterns in ‘real world’ populations
- Develop and implement efficient SAS programs for assigned projects
- Assist in development of protocols/analysis plans
- Generate analytic reports, tables, and graphics to communicate project findings
- Perform quality control checks of SAS programs and output produced by other programmers
- Contribute to program library and analytic tools development (e.g., reusable macros, programming templates) and maintenance to ensure quality of data and analyses
- Tracks and archives projects in accordance with department standards
- Remains current on medical coding systems and relevant large healthcare databases; develops and maintains statistical programming skills
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional SAS programming experience; Experience with other statistical software and visualization tools such as R/Rshiny, Python, Visual Basic Application, or Tableau, while not required, is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience conducting real world studies using large healthcare claims/EHR databases for HEOR or related functions (e.g., MarketScan, PharMetrics Plus, Premier)
- Amazon Redshift experience; Additional Snowflake experience would be a bonus
- Working knowledge of diagnostic, procedure, and healthcare coding systems
- Experience with statistical methods such as survival and regression analyses
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute observational research
- Strong study and project management skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously in different therapeutic areas
- Ability to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, dynamic team-based environment.
