Job Description

HR Generalist handling payroll, onboarding, and employee relations at Stress Free Auto Care. Seeking an experienced professional passionate about building great employee experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles accurately and on time.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with California and Texas wage and hour laws.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and cross-functional payroll projects.
  • Coordinate new hire documents, I-9 verification, and system setup.
  • Deliver a smooth, engaging onboarding experience, including new hire orientation.
  • Maintain employee profiles across HRIS, payroll, scheduling, and benefits platforms.
  • Process terminations and final pay in compliance with local and state requirements.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations questions; escalate complex issues when appropriate.
  • Maintain personnel files in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Support benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee communication.
  • Assist with policy development, employee handbook updates, and HR compliance tasks.
  • Produce HR reporting, analytics, and insights for leadership.
  • Partner with managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • Contribute to special projects and help evolve HR infrastructure as the company scales.

Requirements:

  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a start-up, multi-site, or fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting both strategic and operational HR functions.
  • Strong background in employee relations, including coaching managers, investigations, and resolving complex HR issues.
  • Solid experience with California employment law (wage and hour, leaves, final pay, compliance, investigations).
  • HRIS and payroll system expertise; ability to work across multiple platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a high-growth, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
