Responsibilities:

  • The Operational Engineer I is responsible for partnering closely with the Software Development teams to ensure software output is operationally sound before releasing the software into a production environment.
  • Operational Engineer I prepare software for installation by running diagnostic tests and monitoring/configuring the software as needed during the testing cycle to ensure minimal impact as software is released into the production environment.

  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in processes and design creative solutions to drive operational excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with application, network, and platform teams on installation, configuration, upgrades, and day-to-day operation of business-critical applications.
  • Participate in capacity planning and scaling activities to meet growing business demands.
  • Mentor and train junior operational engineers, sharing best practices and encouraging them to adopt a proactive, improvement-focused mindset.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to system configurations, operational procedures, and incident resolution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as .NET, C#, Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
  • A builder mentality: motivated by solving problems at their root, designing tools and processes to make systems better, and leaving things in a better state than you found them.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and interpreting performance metrics.
  • Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills to work across technical teams.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in a business environment.
