Job Description

Project Manager leading regenerative agriculture projects for Preferred by Nature, a nonprofit advancing sustainable land management. Coordinating farmers, funders and partners across Hungary.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead LENs Hungary and other regenerative agriculture projects with farmers, partners and PbN agronomists
  • Manage plans, budgets, timelines, risks and documentation
  • Deliver contractual commitments on time and to agreed quality
  • Recruit and support LENs farmers, build agricultural networks and encourage adoption of regenerative practices
  • Organise farmer engagement activities and use feedback to improve implementation
  • Act as the main contact for partners and funders in Hungary
  • Coordinate meetings, visits and progress updates
  • Contribute to proposals, budgets, presentations, funding partnerships and new landscape initiatives
  • Support monitoring and KPIs
  • Maintain accurate farmer and project data
  • Prepare timely stakeholder reports
  • Monitor spending, verify contractor and supplier deliverables, and support forecasting and financial reporting
  • Develop a delivery plan, budget overview and monitoring priorities for the Hungary portfolio
  • Coordinate project delivery, farmer engagement and stakeholder communication
  • Identify partnership opportunities for regenerative agriculture in Hungary
  • Agree priorities for the following year with the Programme Manager Regenerative Agriculture

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, Geography, Sustainability, Business Administration, Project Management or a related field
  • At least five years of project management experience
  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder partnerships
  • Skills in project and budget management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting, and data management, analysis and interpretation
  • Strong organisational, stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with cultural sensitivity
  • Commercial awareness, sound judgement and problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Working-level fluency in both Hungarian and English
  • Valid driving licence
  • Access to a personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Hungary, including regular farm and project-site visits
  • PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent project management qualification is a strong advantage
  • Experience working with farmers and agricultural stakeholders or with grant or donor-funded projects is desirable
  • Understanding of agricultural systems, sustainability challenges, and regenerative agriculture principles and practices is highly desirable
