Job Description
Provider Account Management Intern learning customer-facing account management for McKesson Specialty, a healthcare services company. Supporting provider meetings, business reviews, research, and cross-functional customer operations.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow account management team members and learn how they build and maintain relationships with physicians, administrators, C-suite leaders, pharmacists, nurses, and other clinic stakeholders
- Assist with customer discussion preparation by gathering information, organizing materials, and learning how McKesson services support provider customers
- Support preparation for quarterly business reviews and customer meetings, including reviewing trends, GPO optimization opportunities, and business insights
- Learn customer retention, distribution agreements, aggregate partnerships, and McKesson’s value to provider practices
- Observe account managers serving as a coordinated resource for McKesson Provider Specialty customers
- Collaborate with Onmark GPO, Clinical Specialists, Customer Success Managers, Customer Care, Medically Integrated Dispensing, Advisory Services, Finance, Pricing, and Operations
- Assist with meeting preparation, follow-up documentation, customer research, and internal coordination
- Develop familiarity with McKesson products, services, systems, customer support resources, and account management best practices
- Gain hands-on exposure to provider account management within McKesson Specialty without direct account ownership
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a 4-year degree, preferably with an emphasis in sales, marketing, business management, healthcare administration, or a related field
- Prior internship, customer service, sales, healthcare, or business-related experience preferred, but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Interest in developing business acumen and learning how analytics are used to identify customer opportunities and trends
- Interest in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, sales, or account management industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn from multiple teams, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute to positive outcomes
- Organized, accountable, curious, and eager to learn
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate across functions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and follow through on commitments
- Strong active-listening skills and ability to adapt communication style for different audiences
- Must be authorized to work in the US unrestricted; position is not eligible for sponsorship
- Must meet applicable company travel and transportation requirements if travel is required
