Job Description
Executive Director growing The Atlantic’s Media & Entertainment advertising partnerships and revenue. Leading senior client relationships, proposals, negotiations, and cross-platform sales.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate senior-level relationships with clients, agencies, and partners to develop and grow advertising revenue
- Develop and deliver cross-platform programs and proposals focused on integrated selling and revenue growth
- Own and develop a portfolio of Media & Entertainment accounts and prospects
- Generate new advertising business and expand existing client relationships
- Lead the advertising sales process from prospecting and client discovery through proposal development, negotiation, and close
- Maintain deep knowledge of the advertising market, categories, business, and trends
- Represent The Atlantic brand positively and enthusiastically
- Identify new business and renewal opportunities using campaign data and insights
- Lead account conversations with internal partners to evaluate performance, develop strategies, and act on optimization and revenue growth opportunities
- Identify opportunities across custom content, video, events, screenings, sponsorships, print, digital, audio, and emerging formats
- Identify whitespace, develop new ideas, and expand The Atlantic’s footprint in the media and entertainment community
- Create new revenue opportunities through prospecting, outreach, and relationship development
- Serve as a visible representative of The Atlantic in Los Angeles and across the media and entertainment industry
- Report directly to the VP, Partnerships
Requirements:
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in media sales
- Successful track record driving advertising revenue and selling smart creative that transcends traditional advertising
- Strong relationships on both the agency and client sides within the Media & Entertainment space
- Demonstrated success owning and growing a book of advertising business, developing new accounts, and converting client relationships and ideas into revenue
- Ability to be proactive, take ownership, and work independently
- Impeccable communication and relationship-management skills
- Ability to invent and deliver convincing arguments through spoken and written communication
- Deep knowledge of and genuine passion for media, entertainment, and cultural conversations shaping the industry
- Ability to develop new business, build relationships from the ground up, and create opportunities
- Big-picture thinking and ability to pursue ambitious ideas
- Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for journalism, culture, media, and ideas shaping the world
- Based in Los Angeles
- Successful completion of reference checks
