Job Description

Field-based Sales Consultant selling DePuy Synthes orthopaedic sports medicine products. Building surgeon relationships, supporting surgical cases, and growing territory sales across Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and foster new surgeon and account-level relationships within a geographic territory
  • Convert prospective surgeons/accounts and penetrate existing customers through incremental sales while managing a book of business
  • Understand customer needs and develop and execute sales strategies
  • Identify and qualify prospective surgeons and accounts
  • Develop account- or surgeon-specific plans and selling strategies
  • Achieve business plan objectives and sales goals/quotas using approved resources
  • Drive sales for assigned products within the territory or named accounts
  • Present, demonstrate, and ensure proper utilization of products
  • Build relationships with surgeons, operating room personnel, and hospital personnel
  • Provide support to surgeons and operating room personnel during surgical cases
  • Educate surgeons, operating room, and central supply personnel through in-services and workshops
  • Maintain customer service, problem solving, response time, and follow-up
  • Maintain J&J sales equipment and promotional materials
  • Handle and prioritize competitive threats
  • Promote new or strategic emphasis products
  • Implement a plan to achieve a balanced product sales mix

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or related experience, or Associate degree/Medical Certification (CST, PT, etc.) plus a minimum of 5 years, or a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or related experience, or recently transitioned from Active Military Duty plus a minimum of 3 years of professional and/or related experience
  • Ability to work in a lab/operating room environment
  • Valid driver's license issued in the United States
  • Ability to travel, including weekend and/or overnight travel
  • Residence in or ability to relocate to the posted territory
  • Strong interpersonal communication, influencing, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in data analysis and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Results orientation and prioritization
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Ability to collaborate within a complex reporting structure
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, communicate, and work in complex environments
  • Functional knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and basic knowledge of surgery
  • Strong technical product knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, protocols, and solutions preferred
  • If under 18, may need required working papers or documentation and parent’s consent for the background check
