Job Description
Senior Accountant managing AP, reconciliations, payroll, and reporting for a growing lifestyle apparel and merchandise retailer. Improving financial workflows through automation and scalable systems.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
- Record transactions based on the company’s chart of accounts
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Prepare trial balances and support month-end close processes
- Maintain bookkeeping records in accounting software
- Manage vendor invoice processing and payment workflows
- Review and code invoices accurately
- Manage payment batches through platforms such as RAMP
- Coordinate vendor payments, ACH transfers, and approvals
- Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Provide visibility into company financial performance
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues
- Support leadership with accurate financial data
- Process payroll through Gusto
- Review employee expense reports and reimbursements
- Ensure proper documentation and approvals
- Support preparation of 1099s and other required filings
- Assist with sales tax filings as needed
- Coordinate with external CPA and tax professionals
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows
- Leverage automation and AI tools to improve efficiency
- Help transition manual accounting processes into scalable systems
- Build communication workflows with leadership and external finance partners
- Independently manage core accounting operations and AP workflows
- Maintain accurate reconciliations and support timely month-end close processes
- Improve organization and visibility across financial records and reporting
- Serve as a reliable owner of the company’s accounting operations
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance role
- Experience managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with general ledger management, transaction coding, and maintaining accurate financial records
- Experience with month-end close processes and preparing financial statements or management reports
- Experience processing vendor invoices, payments, ACH transfers, and expense reports
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or similar platforms
- Experience supporting payroll processes and working with payroll platforms such as Gusto is a plus
- Experience collaborating with external CPAs, tax professionals, or accounting partners
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
