Job Description
Senior HR specialist managing APAC employee relations and complex employee exits for Remote, a global employment platform. Advising clients across jurisdictions while improving compliant, technology-enabled lifecycle processes.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions.
- Advise clients on termination, resignation, transfer, employment contract, and redundancy procedures, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
- Lead client and external employee meetings, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation negotiations, settlements, and termination outcome discussions.
- Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations involving stakeholders with competing interests.
- Coordinate with payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, trade unions, and internal teams on offboarding compliance and audits.
- Draft, tailor, and administer termination and supplementary documents while maintaining accurate, confidential employee records.
- Process offboarding in Remote’s internal HRIS platform with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams.
- Provide first-level Employee Relations support, assess workplace concerns, and guide clients on disciplinary approaches, documentation, investigations, and appropriate next steps.
- Track employee relations cases and coordinate timely follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and first point of informal escalation for offboarding and employee relations matters.
- Mentor and guide junior team members.
- Identify and drive process improvements, automation, product development, and customer and employee experience enhancements.
- Determine methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments and adapt complex techniques to meet Lifecycle and Remote needs.
- Report to the Manager Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions.
Requirements:
- Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner with generalist HR competencies and employee-lifecycle exposure.
- Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, sensitivity, and legal compliance.
- Experience advising on employment laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments and analyze complex HR issues.
- Ability to independently research issues, develop usable team resources, and provide practical recommendations in ambiguous environments.
- Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to independently lead difficult conversations toward positive outcomes while maintaining professionalism and strict confidentiality.
- Business-level advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Aptitude for process innovation, optimization, automation, and best-practice implementation.
- Strong operational efficiency, record-keeping, and data-integrity awareness.
- Tech-savvy and able to collaborate asynchronously using evolving systems and tools.
- Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in an international, fast-paced, asynchronous remote environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
- Strong ownership, accountability, and self-motivation.
- Strong automation and AI capabilities and AI fluency.
- Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law are a plus, not required.
