Job Description
Private banking credit associate managing lending portfolios, credit analysis, funding, and underwriting for BMO Financial Group. Supporting clients, bankers, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer service and portfolio management for lending services
- Support banking, lending, and relationship-management specialists
- Conduct proactive credit analysis, structuring, decisions, and portfolio monitoring
- Prepare business proposals, client presentations, meeting materials, account-opening documentation, and client communications
- Resolve client questions and concerns and support client sales and service activities
- Recommend workflow improvements to enhance efficiency and service levels
- Analyze risk, financial, and profitability ratings and assessments
- Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations
- Monitor performance and address issues
- Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
- Implement and monitor procedural and policy changes
- Manage operational audits and controls
- Administer credit, non-credit, lending, and related accounts
- Set up and maintain accounts, collateralization, and documentation
- Facilitate funding or underwrite loan applications and make recommendations
- Verify and process loan drawdowns
- Monitor overdrafts, covenant tests, collateral, renewals, registrations, expiries, and lending documentation
- Identify and escalate irregularities and discrepancies
- Collect applicable fees
- Participate in audits and compliance reviews
- Adhere to conduct, ethical, security, fraud-prevention, anti-money-laundering, regulatory, and risk-management requirements
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver business objectives
Requirements:
- Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience
- Post-secondary degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Credit Qualification in accordance with established credit qualification processes, policies, and procedures
- Commercial Loan and Underwriting experience in a financial services environment
- In-depth knowledge of personal and commercial credit and non-credit products, monitoring/operational processes, and applications
- In-depth understanding of loan and security documentation, including registration and renewal routine
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
- In-depth verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth collaboration and team skills
- In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
- In-depth influence skills
- In-depth data-driven decision-making skills
- Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry required for U.S. consumer loan originators
- Criminal background review and credit history evaluation required
- Restrictions on performing in a real estate agent capacity
