Job Description
High-Plex Sequencing Sales Specialist expanding Applied Biosystems’ NGS library-prep and high-plex sequencing business. Advising research and clinical customers through technical sales, demonstrations, and implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with research and clinical customers to expand the High-Plex Sequencing footprint
- Drive market adoption of NGS library prep solutions
- Identify emerging trends, customer needs, and workflow gaps to influence commercial approach
- Translate complex chemistry, assays, and sequencing workflows into consultative solutions
- Guide laboratories through library preparation optimization
- Present at industry conferences
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders, sequencing core facilities, and commercial accounts
- Manage complex, consultative sales cycles from initial engagement through technical demonstration and final implementation
- Collaborate with field application scientists, product management, and regional sales teams in a matrixed environment
- Ensure seamless customer onboarding, robust pipeline execution, and sustained revenue growth
- Travel within the assigned territory to meet customers in their labs, present at conferences, and host targeted workflow sessions
Requirements:
- BS degree required; preferred field of study in the Life Sciences
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Genetics, or a related field
- At least 5 years of successful technical sales or field application experience in life science research instruments and reagents
- 8 plus years of technical sales experience in life sciences is strongly preferred
- Thorough, hands-on understanding of next-generation sequencing chemistry, high-plex target enrichment, sample prep, and end-to-end library preparation workflows
- Knowledge of NGS players, platforms, and commercial landscape
- Ability to navigate complex sales cycles and lead technical discussions with principal investigators and lab directors
- Track record of territory planning, market analysis, and cross-functional leadership
- Organizational skill to manage high-touch customer relationships alongside internal strategic initiatives
- Comfortable traveling 50 to 75 percent within the assigned territory
- Bilingual communication skills are a welcome advantage
