Job Description

Technical Editor Principal documenting GDIT’s cloud-based case management modernization program for 204+ U.S. federal courts. Creating manuals, web content, and software documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and organize information for user manuals, training materials, installation guides, and reports
  • Research and learn assigned systems
  • Write, design, and develop marketing brochures, advertisements, news releases, feature articles, conference programs, proceedings, public relations announcements, newsletters, and related materials
  • Design, develop, produce, maintain, and manage client websites
  • Create multimedia presentation materials, including slides
  • Prepare operations and maintenance manuals and technical publications
  • Gather technical information and prepare written text for basic projects
  • Coordinate layout and manual organization
  • Research development and engineering information, including drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications
  • Write, edit, and proofread reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, technical publications, and software and hardware documentation
  • Arrange word processing, duplication, and distribution of materials
  • Work as part of the Case Management Modernization Application Development team to modernize case management capabilities and improve user experience
  • Support a cloud-based solution serving 204+ federal courts across the United States
  • Communicate technical aspects of software products to technical and non-technical users
  • Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and recommend process improvements

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of directly related experience in researching, preparing, and writing technical and marketing materials
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment writing technical documentation for software products, applications, and product releases
  • Experience understanding and communicating technical aspects of software products to technical and non-technical users
  • Thorough knowledge of technical research, writing, and editing principles and practices
  • Knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, web applications, and computer equipment
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent
  • Advanced experience writing online help documentation, instructional materials, user guides, and manuals
  • Experience developing and implementing content using responsive design principles and technology practices
  • Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, RoboHelp, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Lucidchart, Visio, Draw.io, SiteImprove, Axe, and Wave
  • Ability to understand complex applications, diagrams, user requirements, and designs with minimal assistance
  • Preferred technical proficiency and practical knowledge of HTML5 and CSS
  • Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and identify areas for improvement
  • Ability to work with high-level customer stakeholders and build customer relationships
  • Experience applying industry tools, solutions, methods, best practices, and emerging technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • BI Full 6C (T4) public trust requirement
  • Less than 10% travel required
