Job Description
Technical Sales Engineer demonstrating Rocscience geotechnical software for mining and infrastructure customers. Supporting APAC evaluations, training, and technical sales conversations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver live software demonstrations across the Rocscience product suite, tailored to customer applications, industries, and engineering challenges
- Lead technical discovery conversations to understand customer workflows and challenges
- Identify appropriate Rocscience solutions and demonstrate them hands-on
- Support the sales cycle through evaluations, trials, and proofs of concept
- Help the sales team qualify and progress opportunities
- Act as a technical point of contact for customer enquiries
- Provide practical guidance on modelling approaches, workflows, and geotechnical applications
- Build trusted customer relationships
- Deliver software training, technical workshops, and courses across the APAC region
- Represent Rocscience at conferences, industry events, customer meetings, and technical forums
- Share customer feedback and insights with Sales, Technical Services, Product, and Engineering teams
- Report to the Sales Director, APAC
Requirements:
- A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a closely related discipline
- At least five years of experience in an engineering-related role
- Strong hands-on experience with RS3, including demonstrated competence in 3D finite element modelling of geotechnical problems
- Solid grounding in geotechnical and rock mechanics principles, including slope stability, finite element analysis, limit equilibrium, settlement, groundwater, and rock and soil behaviour
- Customer-centric mindset, with strong listening and discovery skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, assumptions, reliability, and risk to a variety of audiences
- Confidence presenting and demonstrating technical material to individuals and groups
- Willingness to travel within Australia and occasionally internationally
- Highly regarded: Open-pit slope stability and rock mechanics, particularly within the Australian mining and resources sector
- Highly regarded: Working knowledge of the wider Rocscience product suite, including Slide2, Slide3, RS2, Settle3, RSPile, RocSlope2, RocSlope3, RocFall2, RocFall3, and Dips
- Highly regarded: Previous experience in technical sales, applications engineering, product specialist, or geotechnical consulting roles
- Highly regarded: Practical site or operational experience on mining, tunnelling, or civil infrastructure projects
- Highly regarded: Experience delivering software training, technical courses, workshops, or conference presentations
