Job Description

Waste Manager/Specialist overseeing radioactive and hazardous waste management for nuclear, environmental projects. Supporting waste strategies and regulatory compliance across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Support development and implementation of waste management strategies, including: classification and characterisation of waste streams, definition of treatment, conditioning, storage and disposal pathways, alignment with regulatory and project-specific requirements
  • Provide technical support to waste-related activities, including: coordination and oversight of waste handling, treatment and disposal operations, assessment of waste management processes and facilities, review and update of waste management procedures
  • Support preparation and review of documentation, including: waste management plans and procedures, compliance and regulatory documentation, waste inventory records and reporting
  • Contribute to waste tracking and data management, including: maintenance and verification of waste inventories, support to data systems and reporting tools
  • Coordinate interfaces with related disciplines, including: decommissioning and engineering activities, environmental and permitting requirements, health, safety and regulatory compliance
  • Support clients in ensuring compliance with: national and European regulations, project-specific requirements and standards
  • Contribute to project and programme reporting, including: KPI tracking and analysis, identification and management of risks and issues, input to structured client reporting
  • Operate within a multi-stakeholder environment, supporting coordination between: clients and funding institutions, contractors and suppliers, multidisciplinary project teams

Requirements:

  • Experience in nuclear, hazardous or industrial waste management (municipal waste experience alone is not sufficient)
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, industrial, infrastructure or environmental projects)
  • Knowledge of: waste classification, characterisation and treatment processes
  • Knowledge of: waste handling, storage and disposal routes
  • Knowledge of: regulatory and compliance frameworks
  • Understanding of waste management within: nuclear decommissioning, infrastructure or environmental projects, industrial or hazardous waste environments
  • Ability to contribute to technical documentation and reporting
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Relevant degree (engineering, environmental science, nuclear science or related discipline) or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in client-facing roles
  • English language proficiency (minimum B2 level).
