Job Description
Business Development Manager selling Thermo Fisher’s cell, gene, and advanced therapy instruments, reagents, and workflows. Building New England customer relationships, pipeline, and revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Sell Thermo Fisher’s CGT instruments, reagents, and workflow solutions
- Build and execute territory and account strategies across Boston/Cambridge and New England
- Identify, prioritize, and develop high-growth and emerging accounts
- Map stakeholders and build multi-level relationships across Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Executive leadership
- Run outbound prospecting, referral, event, and partner-lead activities to create opportunities and qualified pipeline
- Advance opportunities through discovery, technical qualification, demos, ROI development, decision processes, competitive strategy, and close
- Understand customer processes, pain points, and strategic initiatives and translate them into scale-up and manufacturing-readiness solutions
- Coordinate FAS, applications, service, R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and legal resources for demos, evaluations, technical discussions, and proposals
- Maintain CRM pipeline hygiene and forecasting accuracy and communicate progress, risks, and asks in weekly reviews
- Lead cross-functional deal teams through complex opportunities, aligning technical strategy, commercial terms, supply considerations, and contracts
- Collaborate across divisions and geographies in a global matrixed environment to deliver customer value and achieve growth targets
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MS/PhD/MBA)
- 8+ years of life sciences experience
- Sales experience strongly preferred, with demonstrated success prospecting, building pipeline, advancing opportunities, and closing complex multi-stakeholder deals
- Cell & Gene Therapies (CGT) domain knowledge, including clinical manufacturing workflows, stakeholder groups, and the regulatory/quality environment
- Working knowledge of the therapy lifecycle from discovery through process development, scale-up, tech transfer, clinical manufacturing, and commercial readiness as applicable
- Background in immunology and/or cell biology, or equivalent applied experience supporting these customer environments, preferred
- Ability to travel 50–75% as required
- Strong customer-facing communication and executive presentation skills
- Ability to translate technical value into business outcomes
- Proven ability to negotiate and close deals
- Strong business and financial acumen, including building business cases, sizing opportunities, prioritizing accounts, and data-driven territory planning
- Experience introducing new technologies and seeding markets through prospecting, thought-leader engagement, internal alignment, and partner collaboration
- Strong operating rhythm and accountability, including business reviews, forecasts, written updates, and CRM/funnel discipline
- Position may require Covid-19 vaccination and/or routine testing, per client discretion
