Job Description
Commercial Sales Engineer growing custom polymer, colorant, additive, and masterbatch sales for Techmer PM. Managing complex accounts, developing new business, and supporting plastics customers across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Responsibilities:
- Manage highly complex accounts across multiple locations and functions
- Maintain and grow sales within an assigned territory of existing color, additive, and masterbatch accounts
- Develop broad and deep relationships with purchasing, production, R&D, and quality departments
- Expand existing share of wallet and prevent year-over-year attrition
- Conduct quarterly business reviews covering revenue, quality, product development, delivery, and other metrics
- Use Technical Service and R&D teams to recommend materials, resolve technical challenges, formulate new materials, and address complaints
- Establish customer and business meeting cadence
- Spend 30–60% of time identifying and developing new business
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis
- Identify opportunities to exhibit, attend, and network at industry tradeshows
- Manage the full sales cycle from customer identification through commercialization
- Develop and execute territory plans to achieve sales targets
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records of interactions, quotes, opportunities, and business closes
- Provide monthly sales forecasts, call reports, and market insights to leadership
- Analyze territory performance and adjust strategies to meet budget goals
- Collaborate with regional teams and leadership to drive growth
- Leverage technical service, scheduling/planning, purchasing, and customer service teams
- Relay market feedback and customer sentiment to internal teams
- Stay current on masterbatch and plastics industry knowledge, trends, techniques, regulations, and requirements
- Conduct regular in-person customer visits across the territory
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in Plastics and Resin
- Experience managing highly complex accounts with multiple locations and functions
- Knowledge of color, additive, and masterbatch accounts and applications
- Knowledge of masterbatch formulations, performance and sustainability trends, processing techniques, and customer applications
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and customer requirements
- Ability to travel up to 70%
- Ability to plan travel at least 3 weeks in advance
- Salesforce proficiency
- Ability to conduct market research and competitor analysis
