Job Description

KIPP Foundation director building university partnerships across the Western U.S. to improve college enrollment and completion for KIPP alumni. Negotiating MOUs, managing portfolio data, and coordinating national and regional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, and formalize university partnerships that increase college enrollment and completion for KIPP students and alumni
  • Fortify existing partnerships, reactivate dormant partnerships, and build new partnerships with national universities, regional institutions, HBCUs, and HSIs
  • Develop, negotiate, and finalize MOUs with clear commitments and measurable, symbiotic goals
  • Maintain MOUs, fulfill agreements, and revise commitments as context, outcomes, and needs evolve
  • Partner with the national College Advancement Team and regional KIPP Forward teams to integrate partnerships into student advising and match strategies
  • Exchange work and best practices with other Directors of College Partnerships
  • Strengthen institutional memory of strategies, plans, wins, and challenges with college partners
  • Support codification of best practices
  • Contribute to College Partnerships strategy, including partnership criteria, MOU structure, goals, benchmarks, and accountability structures
  • Track and analyze portfolio-level data to inform strategic partnership decisions
  • Report to the VP of College Partnerships and collaborate across the College Advancement and Partnerships team

Requirements:

  • Experience working with and supporting students navigating economic barriers and/or first-generation college students preferred
  • 7 or more years building and managing a portfolio of partnerships, preferably with colleges/universities or charter schools across a multi-state territory
  • At least 2 years building and maintaining MOUs or institutional agreements
  • Demonstrated experience using data to identify trends, inform decisions, and drive outcomes
  • Strong record of success setting and reaching ambitious goals
  • Record of success working cross-functionally with a diverse array of stakeholders to implement initiatives and reach goals
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong partnership and alliance-building skills
  • Stellar, compelling written and oral communication
  • Effective collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Self-management skills to achieve ambitious goals
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Extensive travel availability: approximately 30–50% (65–110 days per year)
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work
  • Strong alignment to KIPP’s mission and student focus
