Job Description
Principal Business Process Owner modernizing 1031 exchange and title insurance workflows at First American. Driving enterprise process governance, automation, compliance, and operational transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the enterprise vision, strategy, and roadmap for assigned critical process domains across the 1031 exchange transaction lifecycle
- Serve as primary subject matter expert and governance lead for assigned functional domains
- Challenge legacy operating models and redesign workflows into scalable, digital-first, automation-enabled solutions
- Partner with leadership, operational stakeholders, product teams, and technology organizations on process transformation initiatives
- Lead enterprise-wide process reengineering across business units, geographies, and operational models
- Translate operational and regulatory requirements into workflow solutions, system capabilities, automation opportunities, and integration strategies
- Analyze production data, operational metrics, benchmarking, and root causes to identify improvements and inform decisions
- Develop, maintain, and govern enterprise process documentation, SOPs, process maps, controls, governance models, and operational frameworks
- Embed regulatory, compliance, audit, and risk management requirements into process design
- Lead cross-functional governance forums and drive adoption of standardized enterprise workflows
- Mentor and provide strategic guidance to Business Process Owners, operational leaders, and stakeholders
- Champion automation, workflow optimization, and emerging technology initiatives
- Partner on technology strategy and operational transformation involving title production systems, workflow orchestration, and digital process enablement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 12+ years of progressive experience within the functional area
- Demonstrated leadership of enterprise-scale process transformation and operational modernization initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Information Systems, or related field preferred
- Success leading complex enterprise process reengineering initiatives across highly matrixed, multi-functional, and geographically distributed organizations
- Extensive experience driving enterprise process governance, workflow standardization, automation strategy, and operational transformation at scale
- Deep expertise in title insurance and escrow operations
- Advanced experience with title production systems and platforms such as Ignite, FAST, SoftPro, ResWare, RamQuest, Qualia, or similar
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and executive communication skills
- Ability to lead multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously
- Expertise with process mapping, workflow analysis, operational metrics, and data visualization tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
- Digital and transformation mindset with ability to drive organizational change and leverage technology
- Executive presence and ability to influence enterprise decision-making
- Advanced knowledge of process governance, operational risk management, compliance controls, and enterprise operating model design
- Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution
- Extensive title insurance and escrow industry experience preferred
- Experience leading enterprise workflow automation and operational transformation initiatives within title and escrow operations preferred
- Strong understanding of enterprise process governance, operational risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks preferred
- Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or other continuous improvement certifications preferred
- Experience with enterprise technology strategy, system configuration, platform modernization, or digital transformation involving title production systems preferred
- Proven organizational change management and enterprise adoption experience preferred
