Job Description

Client Billing Manager overseeing diagnostic laboratory invoicing and accounts receivable at GeneDx, a genomics company. Leading billing teams, vendors, compliance, and reimbursement improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the client billing process for diagnostic laboratory services from invoice submission through final resolution
  • Review and resolve disputed, pending, and aging invoice balances
  • Ensure invoices comply with client, GeneDx, LSA, guideline, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with internal teams and external billing vendors to resolve issues and improve reimbursement outcomes
  • Coordinate new client setup, existing client updates, and client pricing in billing software
  • Monitor invoice inventory, accounts receivable performance, and operational metrics
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Client Billing team
  • Analyze invoices, identify dispute root causes, and implement process improvements
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Prepare reports on client activities, operational performance, reimbursement trends, and team productivity for leadership
  • Coordinate system implementations, upgrades, process improvements, support, and maintenance
  • Develop and maintain billing policies, procedures, training materials, and best practices
  • Set performance expectations, conduct one-on-ones, coach team members, and complete performance reviews
  • Serve as the first escalation point for team member questions and concerns

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in laboratory billing, insurance claims, client billing or revenue cycle management
  • Strong understanding of insurance claim processes, healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and compliance requirements
  • Strong critical thinking skills to identify root causes, resolve complex issues, and implement effective solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of service requirements, adjudication processes, dispute management, and reimbursement methodologies
