Job Description
Senior Account Manager managing Medicaid customer accounts, contracts, and market access for Merck, a global healthcare leader. Developing rebate agreements, financial analyses, and state-level payer strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-term Customer Account Plans supporting the Medicaid segment
- Coordinate state-level engagement strategies with Government Affairs Directors and Payer Account Executives
- Monitor legislative, policy, marketplace, and regulatory developments affecting Medicaid contracts and product utilization
- Build trusted relationships with state Medicaid agencies, Pharmacy Benefit Administrators, payer decision-makers, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate clinical presentations and conduct business discussions with customers
- Execute and maintain supplemental rebate agreements, including pre- and post-contract analyses
- Negotiate agreements and identify creative contracting solutions with internal teams and customers
- Advocate for customer needs while considering company business objectives
- Prepare financial, trend, and data-modeling analyses to support negotiations
- Partner with Finance on quarterly sales and discount forecasts
- Identify opportunities to bring value to customers and provide recommendations to leadership
- Drive collaboration among Government Affairs, CCE, Finance, Payer Marketing, Legal, and other stakeholders
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry engaged with marketing or account management
- Direct account management, customer contracting and financial analysis, customer marketing, and/or pharmaceutical supply chain experience
- Ability to deliver key initiatives and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strategic, relational, business-minded, analytical, and operational capabilities
- Cross-functional leadership and ability to influence without direct authority
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
- Understanding of the Medicaid segment, including Fee-for-Service and Managed Medicaid preferred
- Advanced degree in a related discipline preferred
- 2+ years in an IAM CM, CM Support, or CM Stakeholder role preferred
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, execute, and implement contracts preferred
- Field sales experience preferred
- Valid driving license required
