Job Description

Specialty Representative selling AbbVie immunology medicines across the Fairfax territory. Managing healthcare-provider relationships, sales strategy, accounts, and clinical market intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and concerns and secure calls to action during sales calls
  • Develop and execute call plans to optimize customer coverage and sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Collaborate with district colleagues, matrix teams, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
  • Serve specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other external healthcare stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of success in selling
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing
  • Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be eligible to obtain required credentials
  • Demonstrated scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe-driving requirements
