Job Description
Territory Manager selling GAF residential roofing products across an assigned territory. Building contractor and distributor relationships, managing sales funnels, and closing new business.
Responsibilities:
- Sell the complete line of GAF residential roofing products
- Act as a liaison between GAF and clients
- Identify market opportunities with contractors, distributors, lumber dealers, retail, and co-ops
- Build, progress, and close the sales funnel through value-selling GAF products
- Overcome objections and convert hurdles into growth opportunities
- Negotiate using value propositions and pricing strategies
- Compile reports on results, lessons learned, competitive landscape, and strategic next steps
- Identify opportunities to exceed expectations and position clients as leaders
- Network with existing and potential customers to become a trusted advisor
- Solve problems and determine solutions that deliver favorable results
- Engage and educate customers through distributor and contractor meetings
- Explain complex subjects such as pricing to varied audiences
- Attend customer shows, conventions, and industry-related activities
- Work with diverse groups to accomplish territory sales goals
- Use social media to monitor industry trends, market practices, and communicate with customers
- Build rapport and close sales
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to have and maintain a driver’s license
- 5+ years of experience in building materials
- Ability to work in a stationary position for long periods
- Ability to move, bend, pull, reach, lift, carry, and move products/materials
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and operate office equipment/keyboards
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps
- Ability to work at heights occasionally
- Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Ability to converse quickly and convey information by phone and in person
- Visual acuity and ability to differentiate colors precisely
- Ability to wear and work in PPE occasionally
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel without assistance
- Ability to safely navigate job sites while operating a motor vehicle
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
- Sales experience in the building material industry preferred
- Multi-channel experience selling roofing materials to distributors, contractors, lumber dealers, two-step dealers, architects, property homeowners, retail, and co-ops preferred
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office preferred
- CRM/Salesforce experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently on competing priorities
- Ability to travel in assigned territory
- Bilingual ability is a plus
- Ability to travel 50%-70%, including occasional weekend travel
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa
