Job Description
Director of Business Development at BCom, focusing on revenue generation and relationship building for mission-driven organizations. Overseeing the business development pipeline and sales strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve company growth goals and revenue targets.
- Own the full sales lifecycle from initial prospecting, outreach, and networking through signed contract.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across target industries and client segments.
- Lead discovery conversations to understand client needs, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
- Represent BCom at conferences, networking events, and industry engagements to strengthen market visibility and generate qualified leads.
- Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to continuously refine business development strategy.
- Lead proposal development, pitch presentations, and sales conversations from start to finish.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to design tailored recommendations, pricing, scopes of work, and contract documentation.
- Negotiate scopes, pricing, and contract terms to ensure profitable, mutually beneficial agreements.
- Ensure a seamless transition from signed contract to account and delivery teams.
- Maintain and elevate BCom's proposal templates, pitch decks, and sales enablement materials.
- Maintain CRM accuracy and provide regular sales reporting, pipeline health metrics, and reliable revenue forecasts.
- Monitor pipeline progression and sales performance metrics to ensure opportunities move efficiently through the funnel.
- Analyze the sales process to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements that increase win rates and efficiency.
- Provide business development insights and recommendations to the leadership team.
- Partner with executive leadership on revenue forecasting, growth planning, and market expansion opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support the development of case studies, positioning materials, and sales collateral.
- Serve as a primary ambassador for BCom's mission, values, and service offerings in the market.
- Support alignment between business development efforts and the capabilities of Revenue, Creative, and Operations teams.
- Serve as the primary client liaison for key client accounts, building trusted, long-term relationships.
- Translate client goals into clear scopes of work and executional plans, anticipating needs and addressing issues proactively.
- Monitor client satisfaction, track deliverables, and lead performance reviews backed by strategic insights and data.
- Ensure alignment between client expectations and internal team delivery.
Requirements:
- 7 or more years of experience in business development, sales, client acquisition, or revenue generation within a marketing agency, consulting firm, communications firm, political organization, or related environment.
- Experience selling consulting or professional services to foundations, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, associations, chambers, or other mission-driven organizations.
- Demonstrated alignment with mission-driven work and organizations.
- Demonstrated success generating new business and closing high-value client engagements.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles from prospecting through contract execution.
- Experience developing and managing sales pipelines and revenue forecasts.
- Strong proposal development, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Strong understanding of marketing, communications, digital strategy, fundraising, advertising, or agency services.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities, evaluate deal potential, and align solutions to client needs.
- Experience using CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
- Ability to analyze sales data and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to independently develop and edit proposals.
- Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders and decision-makers.
- AI-informed and comfortable leveraging emerging technologies to improve pipeline management, research, and proposal development while maintaining a relationship-first approach to consultative selling.
